part two

A had an idea.  And then I realized I’d already used it.  Sort of.  😉  Consider this a “part two” to my post about the Bride of Christ from mid-January called “Bright”.   (If you haven’t read that one, feel free to take a look over here.)

The Bride of Christ.  That’s what the Word of God calls the church.

We’re all familiar with the tradition:  a spotless bride in a white dress.  Now take that back to the imagery of the Bride of Christ:  A soiled-by-sin church.  The spotless Lamb of God.  An excruciating death.  Love.  Grace.  Forgiveness.  A transfer of righteousness.

It’s a beautiful thought.  A mind-blowing thought.  A humbling thought.

But not only has this bride, the church, been sacrificed for… The church has another amazing event to look forward to.  Jesus is coming back for this bride!

The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout…

And the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds,

To meet the Lord in the air:

And so shall we ever be with the Lord.

[1st Thess. 4:16-17]

Then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

[Mark 13:26]

Don’t you look forward to that day?  What a special moment when we “meet the Lord”.  And better yet – We’ll get to be with Him forever.  It’s no wonder that the entire Bible is closed with a yearning for His return…  “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”

Living, He loved me.
Dying, He saved me.
Buried, He carried my sins far away.
Rising, He justified freely forever.
One day He’s coming – Oh, glorious day!

  2. How I LOVE this post! I can imagine the sky looking just like that when the LORD returns! Love the verses…

Time to sing One Day again, isn’t it?

    Love,
    Mama
